Periodontal Maintenance
Periodontal Maintenance is a deep dental cleaning procedure that maintains teeth and gums clean from tartar buildup (1), plaque (2) and harmful bacteria. These threaten to destroy the bone (3) and tissue that holds the teeth in their place. This procedure is typically performed on patients that have been diagnosed and treated for periodontal disease. These deep cleanings are performed on shorter interval than regular prophylactic cleanings, usually every 3 months, and is the key to arrest bacterial growth and plaque buildups, as well as prevent the recurrence of gum disease.
The success on the treatment of periodontal disease is largely based in the patient's ability to attend their scheduled quarterly deep cleanings, in addition to their prophylactic cleanings
