Bone Reconstructive Surgery
When patients present bone loss in their jaw bone it is usually caused by trauma, periodontal disease or missing teeth. In those instances, the jawbone tends to deteriorate (shrink) causing further problems ranging from shifting of neighboring teeth, ill fitting dentures, aesthetic concerns and even speech impairment .
Bone Reconstructive Surgery thus stabilizes and regenerates the jawbone, through a procedure in which bone is grafted in those areas where bone loss is present . This surgery is also commonly used in conjunction or prior to placement of dental implants or soft tissue grafts, to ensure the successful positioning of that implants.
This procedure is performed under local anesthetic. Sedation may be available.
